This is a knife forged from the spring of a Ukrainian car destroyed in Bakhmut. Dozens of knifemakers across Finland have forged the springs into a knife to honour the ultimate sacrifice the owner of the car had to make when defending Ukraine’s independence, culture, and Europe’s freedom.
You can support Ukraine by purchasing this, or another knife forged in the project, at an auction arranged by Hellman Huutokaupat. The online auction starts on September 22nd and is closed on October 7th. You can register as a buyer here.
All proceeds from the auction will be donated, via Konkreettista apua ry, to support Ukraine.
The destroyed car belonged to the commander of the 241st Separate Brigade’s reconnaissance company, who went by the wartime name Chechen. The car was destroyed in the summer of 2023 in Bakhmut. Chechen continued to fight until his death in 2024 in Donbas. His comrades described him as incredibly brave, a true patriot.
This knife stands as proof that a nation’s identity cannot be destroyed by weapons—it will rise again, reforged, sharper and more beautiful than before, to defend its right to exist, supported by other freedom-loving nations.
